Due to the current demand exceeding supply for Australian Visas, the Australian Immigration Home Affairs Department under the Morrison government is in consultation to streamline the three existing business innovation and investment visa categories and nine separate application streams.
The review is also looking to raise investment requirements for Business Visa, namely visa Subclass 188 Investor, 188 Innovation, 132 and Significant Investor Visa with the possibility of investment category types being completely overhauled.
The Australian Migration Agents Pty Ltd senior Migration Agents Mr. Robert Chelliah stated: “These decisions will be a major game changer to the entire Business Visa Program. The raised investment threshold will make complying with the requirements a lot harder and significant”
Acting Minister for Immigration and Citizenship Alan Tudge said: “Immigration to Australia is very attractive and we should be encouraging foreign nationals who want to come to Australia and invest in job creation.” The government is set to consider ways to encourage more investment and business innovation activity in rural and regional areas.
The majority of migrants under the Business Visa programs are able to enter Australia on a provisional visa for a minimum of four years. Applicants are required to meet Australia’s security, character, identity and health requirements, and the funds involved must be lawfully acquired.
So far this financial year, more than 6,800 visa places have been allocated through the program, representing 6.3 per cent of all visas awarded through the skills stream of the migration program.
The review will continue until February 14 next year before a decision to reveal the changes in this major Business Visa Program is reached.
As a migration agent, with more than 40 years of experience in handling Immigration related cases, Mr Robert Chelliah strongly encourages, any eligible business owners and investors, who are planning to migrate to Australia, to act now before further changes are imposed by the government, making the requirements more streamlined and stringent.
Timing is of the utmost importance, with the fate of the Australian Business Visa Program on borrowed time. There is no room for delay and working with the assistance of an experienced agent will be beneficial in ensuring applications are prepared and lodged in the most decision-ready manner. The time to act is now.
